Privacy Policy

Aquastat keeps your aquarium data on your own devices and in your private iCloud. We don't run servers that receive your data, and we don't track or sell anything.

The short version

Who we are

Aquastat is developed by Junior Brito ("we", "us"), operating as brito.ai, based in Guelph, Ontario, Canada. For privacy questions or to exercise your rights, contact privacy@aquastat.space. For the purposes of the GDPR (EU/UK), PIPEDA (Canada), and the LGPD (Brazil), Junior Brito is the data controller / person responsible for the limited data described below.

What Aquastat stores, and why

Tanks & readings
The tanks you create and the water-parameter readings you log (e.g. temperature, pH, ammonia, nitrate), plus any notes. Stored on your device and in your private iCloud so it syncs across your own devices.
App preferences
Settings such as units, reminder time, and selected tank. Stored locally and, if iCloud is enabled, in your private CloudKit database.
Purchases
If you buy Aquastat Pro, the purchase is handled entirely by Apple's App Store and StoreKit. We receive no payment details; the app only checks Apple's entitlement to know whether Pro is active.
Notifications
If you enable test reminders, the app schedules a local daily notification on your device. No notification content is sent to us or any server.

Where your data is stored

Aquastat does not operate a backend that receives your tanks or readings. There is no Aquastat database of your aquarium data.

Third-party services

Aquastat relies only on Apple's platform services:

We do not send your data to any other third party, and we do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or training any AI/ML model.

Where the EU/UK GDPR applies, the limited processing required to run the app (storing the data you enter, on your device and in your iCloud) is necessary to provide the service you requested (Article 6(1)(b)). Because your tanks and readings are processed on your device and in your own iCloud under your control, that processing happens locally rather than by us. Aquastat does not carry out automated decision-making or profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects (GDPR Article 22 / LGPD Article 20).

Your rights

Depending on where you live — including under the GDPR (EU/UK), PIPEDA (Canada), LGPD (Brazil), and the CCPA/CPRA (California) — you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or port your personal data, to withdraw consent, and to object to or restrict certain processing. We do not sell or share personal information.

Because your data stays on your device or in your own iCloud account, you can exercise most of these rights directly (see "Deleting your data"). For any limited data we control, email privacy@aquastat.space and we will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law (within 30 days under GDPR).

Deleting your data

Data retention

We do not retain your content on our servers because we don't collect it there. On-device data persists until you delete it or uninstall the app. Synced data persists in your iCloud account until you remove it.

Children

Aquastat is rated 4+ and is not directed to children under 13 (or, where the GDPR applies, the minimum digital-consent age set by your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

International transfers

Apple may process data in the United States and other countries under its own safeguards. Aquastat itself does not transfer your content across borders, as it does not collect it centrally.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes, we'll update this page and revise the "Last updated" date above.
